Over the past two weeks, our Saplings Nursery class have continued to develop their understanding of themselves and the world around them. This self-discovery process has included a discussion on individuality, where we explored the similarities and differences among each other, focusing on a key example of how our eyes come in various colours and grouping these in a chart.
During the past two weeks, we have also delved into the world of colours, presenting the children with opportunities to explore and engage with different colours in the world around us. Our recent explorations have involved learning about the colour orange, orange playdough, and fine motor skills exercises using wool and a sieve. As part of our colour-themed activities, the children enjoyed creating their very own green go-carts using green paper plate steering wheels and even participated in sensory learning with the introduction of lavender, appreciating the nuances of purple and scent.
In addition to these hands-on activities, the children have been developing their problem-solving skills by learning to match shapes to their corresponding outlines and matching colours within specific objects, such as coloured socks. This matching skill, which is an integral part of mathematics, has been reinforced throughout the week.
